Server Rules
Welcome to Cosmic Roleplay! Please read the following rules before joining the server. These rules are important for maintaining a fair and enjoyable environment for all players.
1. General Rules
Rules governing player conduct in and out of roleplay.
1.1 Use Common Sense
Not every possible situation can be specifically covered by the rules. Use good judgment and do not intentionally abuse loopholes.
1.2 No Scamming
Any form of scamming is strictly prohibited. This includes fake trades, false promises, intentionally deceptive transactions, and similar practices.
1.3 Be Respectful
Stay respectful outside of character. Harassment, excessive toxicity, discrimination, and slurs are prohibited.
1.4 No Exploiting or Cheating
Do not use outside programs, scripts, cheats, or other software that gives you an unfair advantage. Players may also not intentionally abuse glitches or unintended game mechanics.
1.5 Names
Player names must use readable English characters. Do not use excessive spaces, symbols, or confusing characters intended to make your name difficult to read or type.
1.6 No Spam
Do not excessively spam chat, voice chat, commands, props, sounds, or other server features.
1.7 No Impersonation
Do not impersonate staff members or intentionally use names designed to confuse players about your identity.
1.8 Staff Decisions
Cooperate with staff members during administrative situations. If you believe a staff decision was incorrect, use the proper appeal or report system instead of disrupting the server.
2. Roleplay Rules
Rules governing player interactions and roleplay behavior.
2.1 Random Deathmatch (RDM)
Players may not kill another player without a valid roleplay reason. Valid reasons may include self-defense, defending property, raiding, mugging, or other legitimate roleplay situations.
2.2 New Life Rule (NLR)
After dying, players may not return to the area of their death for 180 seconds. Players must also forget information directly related to the circumstances of their previous life.
2.3 Prop Climbing
Players may not use props to climb onto buildings, access restricted areas, bypass defenses, or reach locations that normally cannot be reached.
2.4 Prop Blocking
Players may not use props to completely block roads, entrances, doors, spawn areas, or other locations that players must normally be able to access.
2.5 Prop Killing
Players may not intentionally kill or damage other players using props.
2.6 Metagaming
Do not use information your character could not reasonably know. This includes information obtained through OOC chat, Discord, the kill feed, another player's screen, or similar sources.
2.7 FearRP
Players must value their character's life. If you are clearly outnumbered or held at gunpoint and cannot reasonably escape, you must comply with reasonable roleplay demands.
2.8 FailRP
Do not perform actions that are clearly unrealistic or inappropriate for your current role. Players are expected to reasonably act according to their job and the roleplay situation.
2.9 Revenge RDM
Players may not kill someone simply because that person killed them during a previous life. Your death ends that roleplay situation unless another valid reason develops.
2.10 Combat Logging
Do not disconnect, change jobs, or intentionally avoid roleplay in order to escape an active arrest, raid, mugging, kidnapping, or combat situation.
2.11 Self-Supply
Jobs that sell weapons or other items may not switch jobs or abuse their position solely to supply themselves or friends with items at base price which would otherwise be more expensive when sold through roleplay.
3. Building and Base Rules
Rules governing props, bases, fading doors, and player-owned structures.
3.1 Base Entrances
Every base must have at least one reasonably accessible entrance. Players may not construct completely inaccessible bases.
3.2 Fading Doors
Fading doors must have visible and accessible keypads or buttons. Players may not intentionally hide or obstruct the controls required to enter the base.
3.3 Maximum Fading Doors
A base may contain a maximum of three fading doors protecting its main entrance unless otherwise stated by server-specific rules.
3.4 No Fading Door Abuse
Players may not rapidly open and close fading doors during combat in order to shoot players while preventing them from returning fire.
3.5 No Parkour Bases
Bases may not require players to jump or crouch to move through the base.
3.6 No Maze Bases
Bases may not contain intentionally confusing mazes designed solely to delay or trap raiders.
3.7 No One-Way Abuse
One-way viewing materials may not be used to provide an unfair shooting advantage where one player can clearly attack another player who cannot reasonably see them.
3.8 Building Signs
Players actively constructing a base may place a clearly visible "Building" sign. While the sign is active, the base may not contain valuable entities or be used for normal roleplay nor may unaffiliated players enter the base.
3.9 Public Areas
Do not build structures that obstruct major roads, sidewalks, government buildings, spawn, or other important public areas unless your job specifically allows it.
4. Crime Rules
Rules governing raids, mugs, kidnappings, and other criminal activity.
4.1 Raiding
Only jobs permitted to raid may initiate raids. A raid must have a legitimate purpose such as stealing money, printers, weapons, or other valuable entities.
4.2 Raid Cooldown
Players must wait at least ten minutes before beginning another raid and may not repeatedly raid the same base.
4.3 Raid Duration
Raiders must leave the property when the raid has concluded. Players may not remain inside another player's base indefinitely after taking the available valuables.
4.4 Mugging
Only jobs permitted to mug may initiate a mug. The mugger must clearly state the amount being demanded and give the victim a reasonable amount of time to comply. After attempting a mug, the player must wait 5 minutes before attempting another mug.
4.5 Mugging Limit
A player may demand no more than $5,000 during a single mug.
4.6 Kidnapping
Only jobs permitted to kidnap may take another player hostage. Kidnapped players must be given a reasonable roleplay opportunity for release or ransom.
4.7 Kidnap Duration
A player may not be held hostage for longer than ten minutes unless both players voluntarily agree to continue the roleplay situation.
4.8 Countering
Players may only interfere with a crime when they have a reasonable roleplay reason to do so, such as being law enforcement, protecting a party member, or defending their own property.
4.9 No Spawn Crime
Players may not raid, mug, kidnap, arrest, or attack players inside designated spawn.
5. Job Rules
Rules governing specific server jobs.
5.1 Citizens
Citizens are generally law-abiding players and may not raid, mug, kidnap, or perform actions restricted to criminal jobs.
5.2 Thieves
Thieves may raid and steal from other players but must follow all raid cooldowns, NLR rules, and other criminal rules.
5.3 Gun Dealers
Gun dealers should operate a legitimate weapon business and may not abuse their job solely to provide themselves or friends with base-cost weapons.
5.4 Hitmen
Hitmen may only kill players when they have an active hit through the server's hit system. Hitmen may not request fake hits for personal reasons.
5.5 Hobos
Hobos may build a single self contained structure in public areas but may not block roads, or entrances.
5.6 Police
Police officers must have a legitimate roleplay reason to arrest, search, or use force against another player. A legitimate reason to arrest is defined as obeying Mayor laws or actions that witnessing blatently violent actions. Stun baton spam is prohibited.
5.6.1 Police Reaction
Police must respond appropriately to incidents and obey fearRP. If a police officer is getting attacked, they must respond lethally.
5.6.2 Police Corruption
Police may not assist criminals, accept bribes, or intentionally ignore crimes unless the server specifically provides a corrupt police job.
5.7 Mayor
The Mayor may create reasonable laws and initiate lockdowns when there is a legitimate roleplay reason. Laws may not override server rules.
5.8 Mayor Laws
Laws must be clearly displayed and reasonably enforceable. Laws may not require players to perform impossible actions or allow random execution, harassment, or other violations of server rules.
5.9 Government Officials
Government jobs must follow the Mayor's valid laws while also following all server rules. Server rules always take priority over laws created during roleplay.
6. Combat Rules
Rules governing combat and the use of weapons.
6.1 Valid Combat
Players must have a valid roleplay reason before attacking another player.
6.2 Self-Defense
Players may defend themselves when another player presents an immediate threat to their life.
6.3 KOS Signs
KOS signs must be clearly visible and may only apply to players entering legitimate private property.
6.4 Warning Players
When appropriate, players should clearly warn trespassers or other offending players and give them reasonable time to comply before using lethal force.
6.5 Spawn Killing
Players may not attack or repeatedly kill players who have just spawned or are inside designated spawn protection areas.
7. Entity and Property Rules
Rules governing printers, vehicles, weapons, and other owned entities.
7.1 Money Printers
Money printers and similar illegal entities may be stolen or destroyed during valid criminal activity when permitted by the player's job.
7.2 Entity Blocking
Do not intentionally place entities in locations that block doors, roads, players, or important server functions.
7.3 Vehicle Abuse
Vehicles may not be intentionally used to repeatedly run over players, block spawn, trap players, or disrupt roleplay.
7.4 Abandoned Entities
Players should remove unnecessary props and entities when they leave an area or no longer need them.
8. Staff and Reports
Rules governing reports and interactions with server staff.
8.1 Staff Sits
Players must cooperate with staff members during an administrative sit. Roleplay is considered paused for the players involved.
8.2 Evidence
Players should provide screenshots, recordings, or other available evidence when making serious reports whenever possible.
8.3 False Reports
Intentionally submitting false or misleading reports against another player is prohibited.
8.4 Staff Abuse
Staff members may not use administrative powers to gain an advantage during normal roleplay.
8.5 Appeals
Punishment appeals and staff complaints should be handled through the appropriate Discord or forum channels.
